Discovering Artificial Intelligence
2025 Professional Development Series exclusive for QLD ICT GISP School Teachers
Discover AI
Overview
This professional learning program offers teachers a hands-on opportunity to explore Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its connections to their subject areas. AI is a rapidly growing field that influences nearly every aspect of our lives, often in ways that go unnoticed. Participants will gain insights into the subtle yet pervasive role of AI, the transformative possibilities it brings, and the ethical considerations behind its algorithms. This knowledge will empower educators to design engaging and innovative activities that inspire and inform their students about this pivotal technology.
No prior AI knowledge required
No prior knowledge of AI is required—just a sense of curiosity and a willingness to explore how AI can open exciting possibilities for student learning. Participants will embark on a journey to uncover the transformative potential of AI in education and spark innovation in their classrooms.
Format

-
Two webinars will explore essential AI concepts and real-world applications. This includes key terminology, how AIs learn, AI and coding and ethics and privacy. Participants will deepen their understanding of AI principles and discover creative ways for students to engage with AI in their classroom learning. The webinar will be delivered in two 90-minute sessions (August 28 and September 4)
-
A 1-hour Q&A session will follow the webinars. This dedicated Q&A time will allow participants to clarify key points, consolidate their learning, and begin brainstorming how to integrate AI concepts into their school environments. The Q&A session will be held on September 11.
-
After the webinar, participants can access ongoing email support to guide them in successfully implementing AI in their classrooms
Resources
Participants will have access to a range of professional learning resources that include:
